Updating

The app tells you in Settings when a newer version is out. Download it here and run the new installer; your buddy and your files on the PC stay as they are.

What's new

Version 0.16.0

  • Energy is now your buddy's budget for chatting and Desk jobs: each chat turn uses a little, and it comes back over the day, faster when your buddy is well fed, happy and loved, and faster still while resting. When it runs low, your buddy tells you when it will be back.
  • At full energy your buddy may invite you over to Buddy Desk, and the first reply is on the house.
  • Buddsketball: reach garden level 6 and your buddies get a hoop. Toss them through it for 30 seconds: 2 points a basket, 3 from far away, a bonus for a clean swish, up to 20 coins every 8 hours. While it rests, click it to practise.
  • Tossing a buddy is gentler now.
  • A seed packet on the garden fence opens the shop's seeds.
  • Picking up a buddy in the Home is easier: the bed, bowl and stove no longer get in the way.
  • The lock box keeps your game when another app goes fullscreen.

Version 0.15.0

  • Play with your buddy: click the floor of the Home or the Garden to call it over (double-click to make it run), toss it by letting go while you move, and click the ball to kick it.
  • Buddies have likes and dislikes: they visit the toys they love, keep away from the ones they don't, and grow fonder beside a favourite. Five new keep-away toys are in the shop.
  • Click a visiting buddy to shoo it aside; double-click to reply.
  • Every buddy now shows its low moods its own way: sighs, slumps, yawns, sprawls and huffs.
  • The remedies on the Food tab have their own pictures.

Version 0.14.0

  • Send supplies to your friends: 3 a day (5 for supporters), one per friend. Each one opens into a surprise for their pantry.
  • Your buddy's sheet has an Actions tab: pick a move and your buddy does it. Visiting a friend as your buddy? The move plays at their nest too.
  • Buddies are easier to keep happy: their mood fades over about 6 hours, and they get hungry half as fast.
  • Buddy Nest and its windows now show the buddy icon in the taskbar.

Version 0.13.0

  • Fertilizer now comes in three grades that speed up growing by 10, 15 or 20%.
  • Cooked dishes sell for more than their ingredients, and the finer the recipe, the more they earn.
  • Long-time players: once your garden grows, your buddy needs feeding. A hungry buddy can catch a little trouble; remedies in Consumables help.
  • The Lock box waits for you, and pays 10 coins plus 4 for every guess you had left.
  • The pink apron shows on Mina, and clicking the ring near a visitor picks the button you meant.

Version 0.12.0

  • New in the shop: the Lock box. Crack its four-digit code from the hints and keep the coins inside; it locks again after 4 hours.
  • Friends can visit as their own buddy, wearing what it wears now. Every visitor has a gold outline, so you can tell them from yours.
  • Thai text in your buddy's notes and speech balloons is sharp and easy to read, and long lines are no longer cut off.
  • Yui's red bow, blue bandana and sage scarf are redrawn, and hats and scarves stay in place while a buddy sits.

Version 0.11.2

  • The sharper art from 0.11.0 now really shows: that build still drew everything at the old size.
  • The shop now opens on the Garden tab, so seeds are the first thing you see.
  • The garden sign's and the chore board's menu closes when you move the pointer away.
  • Fetch coins works reliably: your buddy collects every coin left lying for 30 seconds, even after you pet it on the way.

Version 0.11.0

  • Everything is sharper: your buddies, visiting puppets, home, garden, furniture and plants are drawn with twice the detail.
  • Settings, Size now offers Small, Normal and Large. Small is bigger than the old 1x; Large is the old 3x.
  • Hats, bows, glasses and scarves have new designs for every buddy. When a buddy curls up to sleep, its hat rests beside it until it wakes.

Version 0.10.1

  • When a friend's buddy visits, the coins it drops wait on the ground: click one to pick it up.
  • A visitor's words show in a small note like your buddy's, and the full chat is in You & friends, Visits.
  • Visitors take their time: each wave, sit and look lasts a moment, and their name shows when you point at them.

Version 0.10.0

  • Buddy & Builder is now Buddy Nest. The installer updates your copy in place; with the zip, quit the old BuddyBuilder.exe and start BuddyNest.exe. Your buddies and progress stay.
  • Your buddy tells you about a new version with its "!" badge.
  • Rooms for Buddy Desk are in the shop's Places tab: buy them with coins, pick one at desk.buddy.si.am.
  • Friends' buddies can visit: let them in, and a little wooden puppet walks over, waves, chats and may leave a coin. Turn visits off in You & friends, Visits.
  • The Bug catch score now stays on screen.
  • This version is now the oldest one that can sign in: please update to keep playing signed in.

Version 0.9.3

  • Starting the app again always brings your buddies back: hidden buddies reappear, and a copy that shows nothing makes way for the new start.
  • Esc closes an open panel, like its X button.
  • The heart Send button stays on until the service says today's heart has gone.
  • Starting the app while it already runs no longer risks overwriting your progress.

Version 0.9.0

  • Your buddies' progress, notes and calendar now sync with your Lare-Lore account, so a new PC picks up where you left off.
  • Chatting (for supporters) now remembers what matters to you; tell your buddy when it gets something wrong, or forget it all in Settings.
  • Meet Pong, the old-school robot: a supporters' buddy you can adopt for 500 coins.
  • Friends and hearts: add friends by their code, send them hearts, and trade 3 hearts for 30 coins. Signing in for the first time gives you 20 coins.
  • Your Lare-Lore profile and a new Inbox live in the You & friends pane.
  • Windows behave like normal windows now: switch to another app and come back from the taskbar.

Version 0.8.0

  • Smoother on the desktop: only one panel opens at a time, mini games stay on top of the buddies while you play, Laundry opens above the room, and the Water race changes its pace. Reset save now gives you 50 coins to start over with. Signed in, the app sends game statistics with your account (coins, shop and mini game results, never your notes or chats) so we can help you and keep the game fair.

Version 0.7.0

  • The first public build of Buddy & Builder. Four buddies to choose from, Mina, Biscuit, Mochi and Yui, live above your taskbar. They have a home and a garden to grow, a kitchen, laundry and rest, and keep sticky notes and a calendar with reminders. Sign in with Lare-Lore to chat with your buddy (for supporters) and keep its memory with your account. Settings tells you when a new version is out. Install it with the setup, or unzip the portable build and run it.
